London 2012 Olympics

After the successes achieved by the Surrey Starlets cheerleaders this season, the Amethyst team were invited to the most prestigious sporting event in the World. The London 2012 Olympic Basketball games were home the Starlets for 8 days where the Amethyst team performed daily for the crowd.
“As cheerleading isn’t recognised as an Olympic Sport yet, being invited to be a part of the Games was a once in a lifetime opportunity and something we will remember forever” says head coach Emma Haggis.

The Amethyst team performed for 8 days at all the high status games, cheering for basketball stars such as NBA players Kobe Bryant and Lebron James, “The team performed perfectly every day, and were so professional when brushing shoulders with all the Olympic sporting stars,” manager Kim Cope says, “the girls worked so hard, working days from 5am – 8pm, but they never let their tiredness show, putting on crowd pleasing, high energy performances!”

Similarly to their competitive performances this season, the Amethyst team were greatly received by every crowd they performed for which was highlighted over social media site, Twitter, with posts such as,

Lewis Brown @Lb_me “@SurreyStarlets did really well at the Olympic Basketball today. Great show and so talented. #OlymicsLondon2012”
